Russia and Turkey offer ways to reach armistice in Nagorno-Karabakh

Russian military observers can control the compliance with the ceasefire agreement in the Karabakh conflict zone, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs suggests. The OSCE Minsk Group is to complete the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh and return the territory to Azerbaijan, urges Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 10, an agreement on ceasefire in the Karabakh conflict zone entered into force, but the parties to the conflict continued to report about battles and shelling attacks.

Russian military observers could ensure control over the ceasefire regime in Nagorno-Karabakh, notes Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Not even peacekeepers, but military observers. And they would be enough. We believe that it would be completely correct if there were our military observers, but the final decision is to be made by the parties," Sergey Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister expressed his confidence about a possible political settlement of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. "Our main message is that military officials of the parties should immediately meet and agree on a ceasefire mechanism," emphasized Sergey Lavrov as quoted by the "Interfax".

In his turn, today, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that the OSCE Minsk Group should complete the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh and "return the territories" to Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan only demands its occupied territories back, but the Minsk Group, namely the US, France, and Russia, are stalling the process. All the Minsk Group has to do is to immediately complete the negotiations and make sure Azerbaijan gets its territories back," said Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as quoted by the TASS.
