Desecration of holy source actualizes behaviour code for Caucasian youth

It is necessary to explain to natives of Northern Caucasus the mentality specifics of residents of other regions, the journalist, Magomed Magomedov, and Shamil Khadulaev, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that several young conscripts treated in social networks as natives of Chechnya filmed a video, in which they were washing their shoes in a spring near an Orthodox Church in Kaliningrad. One of the heroes of the video later apologized.

In order to understand whether the actions of the young people in the video are subjected to criminal liability, it is necessary to understand whether they did it deliberately or out of ignorance, says Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly.

He has noted that this case demonstrated the need to explain to residents of Northern Caucasian the rules of conduct outside their republics. "In my subjective opinion, the incident happened due to the fact that the conscripts should have been explained in their military unit about the mentality of local residents, traditions and rules of conduct in the region, where they are taking their service," Mr Magomedov has explained.

Shamil Khadulaev, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, agrees with this position.

"This topic has been overblown. One of the participants in the incident had apologized ... It is necessary to instruct them when young people leave their republics; conduct prophylactic talks with them, as young people often don't know how to behave outside their region," Mr Khadulaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
