Chechen MPs invite officials to wear badges with portrait of Akhmat Kadyrov
In the Urus-Martan District, local MPs have suggested that directors of private and state-owned enterprises in the region wear badges with a portrait of Kadyrov Sr. and the inscription reading: "First President of the Chechen Republic".
On September 15, on his Instagram page, district prefect Valid Abdureshidov posted a resolution issued by the MP's Council of the Urus-Martan District and instructing officials to wear a badge with a portrait of Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov. According to the text of the document, dated September 14, the MP's Council of the Urus-Martan District decided to invite directors of private and state-owned enterprises in the region to wear on the left side of their chest a badge with a portrait of Akhmat Kadyrov.
In Chechnya, the Akhmat Kadyrov's personality cult began to form immediately after his death in 2004. In particular, an avenue in Grozny, the major sports complex in the city, a mosque in the capital of Chechnya, and a number of sports clubs throughout the republic are named after Kadyrov Sr.
Public sector employees report that every director of a public institution in the region is obliged to wear a badge with a portrait of Akhmat Kadyrov. "The resolution seems to be of a recommendatory nature, but we are aware that such instructions are mandatory," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Kheda, an employee of an educational public institution from the Urus-Martan District.
