Ingush activist Myakiev released from colony
Bagaudin Myakiev, an activist, convicted of attacking law enforcers at a rally in Magas, has served his sentence in a colony.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 20, 2020, the 54-year-old Ingush activist, Bagaudin Myakiev, was sentenced to one year and nine months in jail for throwing chairs at law enforcers at the above rally. On April 22, the court toughened his punishment and sent him to colony. On the same day, Myakiev was arrested on charges of escaping from the courtroom. Myakiev claimed that he had no intent of escaping, but left the courtroom at the request of a court marshal.
Myakiev was detained in April 2019; he admitted that at the March 2019 rally in Magas, he threw chairs in the direction of law enforcers, but stated that he did not aim at them.
The defence intends to appeal against the court verdict treating it as unfair.
