Brother of Chechen blogger Abdurakhmanov acquitted in case on support to IS

In Germany, the court has reviewed Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov's case and refused to recognize his posts on the social network as extremist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August 2019, Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov was sentenced to a fine of 1350 euros for his two posts on Facebook. The court found the defendant guilty of disseminating symbols of a terrorist organization and a video humiliating human dignity. In February 2020, the Bavarian Supreme Court cancelled the sentence.

Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov is a member of the human rights association "Vayfond" in Germany, the leaders of which criticizes the authorities of Chechnya. He is a brother of the blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, another well-known migrant. The German authorities refused to grant political asylum to Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov.

All procedural costs, including the lawyer's remuneration, incurred by Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov, will be reimbursed by the state.

One of the videos that became the basis for the criminal proceedings against Mokhmad Abdurakhmanov was a repost of an article published by Deutsche Welle which reported how members of the "Islamic State", a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, were obtaining firearms. The second post contained videos of Israeli soldiers dogging a child.
