In Dagestan, believers have to change family traditions of Eid al-Adha

Today, many of believers have come to the Juma Mosque for the festive prayer on the occasion of the holiday of Eid al-Adha. Despite the call voiced by the Muftiate, the believers wore no masks, Makhachkala residents noted. This year, some of the residents of Dagestan, whose incomes decreased because of the quarantine regime, refused to buy sacrificial cattle and go to visit their relatives and friends.

Today, many believers have visited the Juma Mosques without wearing masks, Arsen from Makhachkala confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Abdulla Adjimollaev, Deputy Mufti of Dagestan, called on believers to observe "all precaution measures, including when visiting mosques and crowded places." "In order to avoid infection with the coronavirus, we urge you not to send your children to collect sweets on the holiday of Eid al-Adha and not to arrange any magnificent celebrations with many guests until all restrictions are lifted," the Muftiate called on believers on its website.

Entrepreneur Ruslan Abakarov said that this year, he did not work because of the restrictions imposed in connection with the pandemic. "Our family could not buy a whole ram. We bought it together with brothers, and we will cook a festive dinner together," the man said.

Magomed Suleimanov also refused the usual format of the Eid al-Adha holiday this year. "Earlier, my neighbours and I used to gather in the yard on the Eid al-Adha holiday. We cook food in large cauldrons and distribute the foodstuffs to the people. Now some people face financial difficulties, while others avoid mass gatherings. We will celebrate the holiday at home," the man said.
