Action in USA turns into conflict of citizens of Armenia and Azerbaijan
A policeman and seven Azerbaijanis received traumas during a conflict with Armenian citizens at an action in Los Angeles, the Azerbaijani Consulate General has reported.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the situation on the border of the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan and the Tavush Region of Armenia escalated on July 12. The Azerbaijani side announced the death of 11 of its soldiers and one civilian, and wounding of four soldiers. Given the four killed and 20 wounded people on the Armenian side, the count of victims since the start of the aggravation on the border made 40 killed and wounded people.
According to the Armenian side, the situation on the border aggravated after the Azerbaijani troops had tried to break through the border. In its turn, the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claims that the conflict escalated after the Armenian armed forces had attempted to go on the attack.
On July 21, several hundred Armenians gathered at the building of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles in protest against the aggravation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, a source from the Consulate told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The participants of the action organized by the US Armenian National Committee began shouting aggressive and provocative slogans," he said.
In response, the Azerbaijanis, who also came to the Consulate, began chanting slogans about Nagorno-Karabakh and the conflict on the Armenian border; they raised their country's flags, said the Consulate source.
As a result, a brawl broke out; and seven citizens of Azerbaijan, including one woman, received traumas; four of them were hospitalized, the source said, adding that a policeman also suffered.
