Chechen residents plan to celebrate Eid al-Fitr with their families

In Chechnya, the law enforcement bodies promised to enhance patrolling on the streets during the celebrations of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, and local residents decided to celebrate the holiday at home.

On April 24, Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims, began, and it will end with the celebration of the Eid al-Fitr holiday. The Mufti of Chechnya called on believers to celebrate the holiday in a family circle because of the spread of the coronavirus infection. The local residents are disappointed about the cancellation of the festivities. The Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) also announced a ban on movement throughout the republic during the holidays.

For the days of Eid al-Fitr, there will be no mitigations in the restrictions on the movement of the Chechen residents on foot or in transport, reports an official from the Chechen MIA.

Residents of Chechnya, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, note that they do not violate the regime of self-isolation and intend to comply with the restrictions during the days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

According to Yakhita Muskhadjieva, the authorities also banned residents of Chechnya from attending a tezet (a three-day memorial ceremony, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") to express condolences to relatives of a deceased person.

Roza Dadasheva, the director of a kindergarten in Grozny, notes that children felt the greatest joy during the days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, since they received sweets from adults. Roza Dadasheva also treated the restriction on movement during the holidays as a justified decision.
