Armenian authorities request help in countering coronavirus

Starting today, a fundraising campaign for the fight against the coronavirus infection has been announced in Armenia. The Ministry of Public Health intends to direct the raised funds to doctors' incentives and improvement of conditions in medical centres.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 16, 2020, the Armenian government decided to impose the state of emergency in the country in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

"Since in recent days we have received many proposals for financial support from various individuals and organizations, the Ministry of Public Health has opened a treasury account aimed at conducting a number of activities to combat the spread of coronavirus," Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Public Health, wrote in his Facebook page on March 17, whose post has been translated into Russian by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the account has been open for donations since March 18. "The received funds will be used to encourage the medical staff, purchase medical equipment and improve the conditions in medical centres," he has stated.
