Yessentuki court rejects arguments of Uzhakhov's defence on investigators' inaction

The Yessentuki City Court has refused to satisfy the complaint lodged by Malsag Uzhakhov, the head of the Council of Ingush Teips, about the investigator's inaction, his advocate Djabrail Kuriev has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Malsag Uzhakhov was arrested after the March rally in Magas. In September, a court in Yessentuki extended his arrest until December 25; this decision was upheld by the Stavropol Territorial Court.

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" declared Malsag Uzhakhov to be a political prisoner.

Djabrail Kuriev, Malsag Uzhakhov's advocate, said that he had filed complaints about investigators' inaction, as they fail to respond to his petitions, but the Yessentuki City Court has rejected the arguments of the activist's defence.

"I submitted a complaint to the court about investigator's inaction. I received no answers to my four petitions put forward within the investigative activities. At the court sessions, the investigator says that his answers had been sent by mail; but I have a document from the postal service, which indicates that there were no letters to my name. However, the judge stated that the court had no grounds not to believe the investigator, and refused to satisfy my complaint," said Djabrail Kuriev, as quoted by the "Kavkaz.Realii" portal.
