Petersburg picketer supports arrested Ingush activists

On September 27, in Saint Petersburg, Marina Ken, a local activist, held a picket in support of the protesters arrested in March this year in Magas, the capital of Ingushetia. She stood with posters calling to set free the Ingush activists, including Malsag Uzhakhov, Akhmed Barakhoev and Zarifa Sautieva.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Malsag Uzhakhov, the chairman of Ingush Council of Teips (family clans), Akhmed Barakhoev and Zarifa Sautieva were arrested within the case of calls for riots and an attack on law enforcers during the March rally in Magas. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" declared all the above three and three other protest leaders in Ingushetia to be political prisoners.

Marina Ken published information about her picket in support of Ingush activists on September 27 in her Facebook page. She posted photos from the action, entitling them "Picket for freedom of Ingush prisoners".

Marina has explained that she had held a solo picket in support of Ingush activists in the evening in Nevsky Avenue. "In Saint Petersburg, we regularly go out to human rights pickets; and political prisoners are an important today's topic. I would like to pay special attention to Ingushetia, where people should not be left without informational protection, especially in the conditions when mass media fail to pay due attention to the situation," the "Kavkaz.Realii" quotes the activist as saying.
