Court arrests Dagestani resident who complained about pressure from law enforcers
On August 19, residents of the Khasavyurt District of Dagestan complained about kidnapping of Kemran Isaev, a resident of the village of Terechny. On August 18, "his car was stopped by a patrol of the traffic police (known as GIBDD), but the policemen did not even have enough time to check his ID and car documents, since several people forced him into their car and took him away to some unknown destination," said a friend of Kemran Isaev.
The kidnapped man was put on the police prevention registration list, and "perhaps, the interest of the law enforcement bodies in the Kemran's activities could be caused by the fact that his wife's brother was killed in the war in Syria," noted the friend of Kemran Isaev. On August 19, relatives of the man and his fellow villagers held a protest rally in Khasavyurt and claimed that the man had been kidnapped.
Kemran Isaev was detained on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons, the press service for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan reported. According to the Dagestani MIA, law discovered that Kemran Isaev had a gun and a grenade with him.
When an advocate visited Kemran Isaev on August 19, the man complained about pressure with the use of physical force. On August 20, the court arrested Kemran Isaev until September 18.
