Volgograd activist pickets against LGBT discrimination

At his solo picket, Vlad Pogorelov, a Volgograd activist, demanded to protect lives and rights of members of the LGBT community. Some of the passers-by supported the picketer; but one man snatched a poster from the activist and threw it into the garbage bin.

"This is an action in memory of the LGBT people who perished because of xenophobia. In Russia, a lot of such people face violence, it sometimes comes to murder. The brightest cases are the murder of Vladislav Tornovoy and Dmitry Tsilikin, discrimination against a same-sex couple who raised children, and the recent murder of Elena Grigorieva, who received threats from a homophobe," Mr Pogorelov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Passersby were curious about the action, but their reaction was different. In particular, two guys passing by said that they were natives of Chechnya and did not like the picketer.

"In Chechnya, this could not take place; he wouldn't stand for five minutes; and he wouldn't be there. People wouldn't withstand it," said one of the guys.

Let us remind you that on January 22, 2019, Vlad Pogorelov also went out to a picket against persecution of LGBT people in Chechnya and other Russian regions. Then, a Cossack tore up all his posters.
