In Abkhazia, Georgian citizen detained for illegal border crossing

Beglar Tsilosani, a citizen of Georgia, was placed to a SIZO (pre-trial prison) on suspicion of illegally crossing the border. His daughter who was with him was handed over to her mother, the State Security Service of Abkhazia reported.

In New Athos, officers of the State Security Service of Abkhazia detained Georgian citizen Beglar Tsilosani, born in 1983. Together with his daughter, born in 2015, the man crossed the border between Abkhazia and Georgia near the village of Papynrkhua in the Gali District, "failing to go through the established border checkpoints."

At the "Ingur" checkpoint, in the presence of observers from the EU mission, the daughter of the detainee was transferred to her mother, a citizen of Georgia.

The authorities of Georgia are engaged in the activities aimed at releasing the detainee, the "InterPressNews" reports.

Let us remind you that in its report on the "borderization", the human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) claimed that the construction of border fortifications on the lines of demarcation between South Ossetia and Abkhazia and Georgia was painfully perceived by the Georgian society and supported anti-Russian sentiments in it.
