OSCE Mission finds no ceasefire violations in the Karabakh conflict zone

Members of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) mission have revealed no ceasefire violations on the troops contact line, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan have reported. The US Congress has approved the resolution on increasing the number of OSCE observers in the conflict zone.

The scheduled monitoring was conducted on July 11 at the border of Artsakh (the historical name of the NKR, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") and Azerbaijan, the press service of the NKR's MFA told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. There were no violations of the ceasefire regime.

In its turn, the Azerbaijani MoD reported that the monitoring held in the territory of the Agdam District "ended without incidents."

On July 11, the House of Representatives of the US Congress adopted a resolution on reducing tensions in the Karabakh conflict zone, the "ArmInfo" reports with reference to the Armenian National Committee of America. The resolution suggests removing snipers and heavy equipment from the troops contact line; introducing a system intended to identify ceasefire violators; and increasing the number of OSCE observers.

The adoption of the resolution "should be perceived as a moral and political achievement," said David Babayan, the press secretary of the president of the NKR.

It should be noted here that the monitoring sessions conducted by the OSCE mission do not fix any violations. Thus, the OSCE officials reported that there were no violations on the troops contact line of troops after the monitoring conducted on June 25.
