Public committee set up in support of Dagestani journalist Gadjiev

Colleagues and relatives of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a reporter of the Dagestani weekly "Chernovik", have created a committee in his support and intend to seek to remove suspicions of financing terrorism from the journalist.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Gadjiev was detained on June 14. The preacher Abu Umar Sasitlinsky and nine other persons are suspects within the same case of financing terrorism.

Gadjiev's support committee intends to send letters to the Russian president and power structures demanding a fair investigation of the case.

Also, on Saturday, the support committee held a series of pickets near the Makhachkala courthouse, which is to decide on Gadjiev's freedom restriction measure.
