Relatives report grave condition of convict in "Nardaran case"
Farkhad Muradov, a supporter of the "Muslim Unity" (MU) movement, is denied a transfer to a prison hospital; his condition is worsening, his relatives have complained.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, 2017, a number of MU activists were sentenced to 12-15 years in prison. Farkhad Muradov was sentenced to 12.5 years.
In November 2015, during the special operation in Nardaran, two law enforcers and five local residents were killed.
Farkhad Muradov needs a transfer to a prison hospital, but he is denied this, Samira Agaeva, a rights defender and Deputy Chair of the D-18 Movement, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Farkhad Muradov is suffering from hepatitis C; his condition is deteriorating every day," Ms Agaeva has conveyed the information of Farkhad's relatives.
Elchin Gasymov, MU Deputy Chairman, who had served his sentence with Muradov, but was amnestied in March, has confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Muradov is seriously ill. "I myself got out of prison a month ago and I know that there is practically no medical care to prisoners," Mr Gasymov has stated, adding that Muradov often loses consciousness, and even the jail wardens asked for his transfer to the prison hospital.
On April 23, Muradov had another stroke, but medical help was provided to him, Iftikhar Gurbanov, Deputy Head of the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice, has stated, in his turn.
