Residents of Nagorno-Karabakh demand compensation for Armenian Genocide
In Stepanakert, participants of a torchlight procession urged the international community to give the legal assessment of the Armenian Genocide and force the guilty party to pay compensation to the Armenian people, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on April 23, in Stepanakert, activists of youth organizations, students, and schoolchildren took part in the torchlight procession timed to mark the day of massacres of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire. In total, more than 2300 people took part in the procession.
Participants of the torchlight procession urge the international community to give the proper assessment of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire, condemn all those guilty of committing crimes against the Armenian people, and force them to pay compensation, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Beno Mirzoyan, a member of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun youth organization.
Public sector employee Armine Airapetyan has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent she does not believe that the whole world community will ever listen to the demands of the Armenian people.
"I take part in the torchlight procession out of respect for the memory of the innocent people who fell victim not only to the Armenian Genocide in 1915, but also to all other massacres and pogroms of the Armenian people over the past century. And what we demand from the international community is a useless cry of our people's soul. Every year we voice our demand, but, based on the scale of the tragedy, the process is too slow," believes Armine Airapetyan.
