Authorities of Dagestan accuse Chechnya of establishing border unilaterally

The parliament of Dagestan demanded from the Chechen Department of the "Rosreestr" (Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography) to cancel the registration of the right to a land plot as a part of the Kizlyar District.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 20, the Dagestani public commission for border coordination noted that residents of Dagestan still had concerns against the background of the closed demarcation process.

Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, argued that the authorities of both regions did not ask each other for concessions in the territories, but on February 7, it became known about Chechnya's claims to a land plot near the village of Mekhelta in the Gumbet District. Residents of the village of Ansalty in the Botlikh District and the village of Gakko in the Tsumada District also stated that there were disputed territories on the border with Chechnya. On March 30, activists claimed that Chechnya had registered about 18 hectares of the disputed land as a part of its territory.

Let us remind you that the establishment of the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia in the autumn of 2018 provoked mass protests in Magas. One of the protesters' demands was the resignation of the leader of the republic.
