Alabama State recognizes Armenian Genocide

Alabama has become the 49th US state to recognize the massacre of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire as genocide. Mississippi remains the only state that has not.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 19 the Italian region of Lazio recognized the Armenian Genocide.

Alabama Governor, Kay Ivey, has signed a declaration recognizing the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the Armenian National Congress of America (ANCA) has reported on the Facebook. "There is only one state (Mississippi), which is to recognize this crime against humanity," the report says.

However, at the US federal level, the Armenian Genocide has not been recognized, the "Sputnik Armenia" notes.

Over 1.5 million Armenians killed in the Ottoman Turkey in 1915 have been canonized in Armenia; Turkish authorities refuse to treat the events as genocide.
