In Dagestan, residents of Gumbetovsky District concerned over border with Chechnya

On February 7, residents of the Gumbetovsky District took part in a meeting on the issue of the border between their district and Chechnya. The neighbouring republic voiced a number of claims on the land plots, a specialist on land issues announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the authorities of Chechnya and Dagestan agreed to complete by late 2019 the establishment of the border between the republics. The authorities of both republics do not ask each other to cede any territories, states Magomed Daudov, the chairman of the Chechen parliament.

Earlier, journalists and political analysts have stated that residents of Dagestan are deprived of information about the process of border demarcation and that the policy of silence, on which Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov insists, is being conducted with the knowledge of the Kremlin.

Umalat Magomednabiev, a specialist on land issues, pointed to a section of the border claimed by Chechnya, the newspaper "Novoye Delo" (New Cause) reports.

"We will present our arguments on the land affiliation, and we believe that the parties will come to an agreement," notes the Mekhelta_Molodezh page on Instagram.
