Putin's call to Evkurov does not clarify Kremlin's attitude to events in Ingushetia

Vladimir Putin entrusted Yunus-Bek Evkurov to solve the problem with protests in Magas, believes political analyst Azhdar Kurtov. His colleague Akhmet Yarlykapov believes the events in Magas illustrate the confusion of the authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from October 4, Magas hosts the protest action against the agreement establishing the new border with Chechnya signed by the Ingush leader. Ten days after the start of the protest in Magas, Yunus-Bek Evkurov discussed the situation with the Russian President.

Vladimir Putin advised not to disperse the rally, the leader of Ingushetia reported.

Azhdar Kurtov, a historian and a political analyst, treats the Vladimir Putin's call to Yunus-Bek Evkurov as a sign of the president's support. The political analyst believes that the Russian President said that it was necessary to conduct a dialogue, and not to use force, taking into account the temper of the Caucasian people.

According to Azhdar Kurtov, conflicts like the one that arose in Ingushetia cannot be solved by force. The political analyst believes that the border problem may lead to destabilization, if the opinion of the society is not taken into account.

The statements about the "equal exchange of territories" voiced by the authorities of Ingushetia do not correspondent to the real situation, point out cartographers. According to their calculations, the territories handed over to Chechnya are 26 times larger in area than the land got by Ingushetia.

The Kremlin will not openly support and will not criticize Yunus-Bek Evkurov, believes Akhmet Yarlykapov. According to him, it is difficult to understand the attitude of the authorities of the Russian Federation through the Vladimir Putin's call to Yunus-Bek Evkurov.

Earlier, protest organizers have offered to interrupt the rally to prepare the World Congress of the Ingush People. Today, the activists have begun to dismantle the tents in the square.
