Ilham Aliyev and Nikol Pashinyan agree to prevent border incidents

The President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia met at the summit of the CIS countries, where they decided to create a mechanism of operational communication to prevent violations of the ceasefire between the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

On September 28, a conversation between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took place in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. "The sides expressed their commitment to negotiating a settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and strengthening the ceasefire regime to prevent incidents on the contact line and the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan," reports today the press service of the Azerbaijani President as quoted by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In his turn, Nikol Pashinyan has expressed his satisfaction with the negotiations. "The meeting was informal, and we talked to each other for the first time," said Nikol Pashinyan on the air in Facebook.

According to him, both sides expressed the desire to prevent incidents at the border and announced the commitment to a dialogue and peaceful resolution of the conflict. "The third important decision we came to was the organization of the urgent communication between us. We will entrust it to the relevant authorities in our countries," reported Nikol Pashinyan as quoted by the "Sputnik Armenia" on September 28.
