Head of Armenian village reports shelling by Azerbaijan

The pre-border village of Baganis of the Tavush District of Armenia was shelled several times by Azerbaijan; no one was injured, Narek Saakyan, the head of the village community, has stated today. Ceasefire violations in the conflict zone are "permanent in nature," the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Narek Saakyan, the head of Baganis village, had repeatedly reported about shelling from Azerbaijan. Thus, according to his story, the Azerbaijani militaries shelled the village on April 15, and on April 8, three cows were killed by shelling.

The shelling of Baganis has intensified since September 2, Narek Saakyan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent today.

He has added that the previous shelling took place last night. "Thank God, there were no casualties and victims. Of course, the situation worries the villagers, but we are already somehow accustomed to it, so much as our children attend school as usual," Mr Saakyan said.

Ceasefire violations by Azerbaijan are "permanent", Tigran Balayan, the MFA's press secretary, said at a briefing today.

According to his story, the ambassadors of the countries co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group are informed about each violation, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
