Chechnya: law enforcers talk to attackers' teachers

Policemen have offered teachers to give negative characteristics to the participants in the recent attacks on law enforcers, a source said. The Chechnya's Minister of Information has refuted the data on any pressure exerted on the families of assassinated teenagers.

On August 20, in Chechnya, teenagers attacked policemen. On September 4, it became known that families of the teens, who were killed in the attacks, left the village of Shali.

According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot", this is the sixth case in two years, when relatives of underground members were forced to leave their houses.

The "Kavkaz.Realii" reports that teachers refused to negatively characterize their former pupils.

"They wanted to show the Moscow commissions that what happened was the result of inadequate upbringing in families and training at school; however, this was not the case – all the teens were from respected and wealthy families," the source said.

Djambulat Umarov, the Chechen minister for national policy, external relations, press and information, said on air of the "Echo Moskvy" Radio that there were no pressure on attackers' families.

According to his version, when someone commits a murder, there is a custom in the region for relatives to "move to another place to show regret about what happened."

Let us remind you that on August 22, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that "parents bear personal responsibility for their children's actions," and instructed his officials to collect information about schoolchildren's and students' views.
