Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of 73 shelling episodes

On August 1-2, the Armenian armed forces 73 times violated the ceasefire regime in the border areas and in the Karabakh conflict zone, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) reports today.

According to its information, the Azerbaijani positions in the village of Bala Jafarli and on the nameless heights in the territory of the Gazakh District were shelled from the direction of the Armenian town of Ijevan.

Besides, the shelling also came from the direction of the Karabakh villages of Geiarkh, Chilyabyurt, Shykhlar, Bash Karvend, Seyidli, Merzili, Kuropatkino, Kyurdliyar, Nyuzgyar, and from the nameless heights in the Goranboy, Terter and Agdam Districts, the Azerbaijani MoD's website reports today. Large-calibre machine guns were used during the shelling.

As of 8:48 a.m. Moscow time on August 2, no comments on the Azerbaijani MoD's statement were posted on the websites of the Ministries of Defence for Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
