Four parties supported protests in Tbilisi

Leaders and supporters of the "United National Movement" (UNM), "Civil Platform-New Georgia", "State for the People" and the National Democratic Parties have joined the protests demanding a change of power. The oppositional Republican Party refused to support the action.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since May 31, Tbilisi hosts the campaign "#don'tkill", triggered by the unfair, in protesters' opinion, court judgement on the murder of two schoolboys. Irakli Shotadze, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Georgia, had to resign under protesters' pressure. Late in the evening on June 2, the father of one of the stabbed schoolboys, the initiator of the protest action near the building of the parliament, urged all the opposition political forces to unite in order to facilitate the "collapse of the entire system."

The father's appeal was responded by Nika Meliya, an MP from the UNM, and the leaders of the following non-parliamentary oppositional parties: Giorgi Vashadze from "Civil Platform-New Georgia", and Nika Machutadze, from the "State for the People", who joined the political protest.

Besides, the National Democratic Party decided to join the action under the slogan "People against the System". The leaders of all the four above political forces have supported the demand for a change of power. However, the oppositional Republican Party refused to support the action.
