Court stops proceeding complaint of Chechen rights defender Oyub Titiev

Today, the court in Grozny agreed not to consider the complaint against investigators' actions after the investigator cancelled his previous refusal to initiate a case on the marijuana planted on Titiev. This was reported by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".

After the cancellation of the first refusal to open the case on Titiev's application, the materials were forwarded to the investigative bodies of Chechnya for an additional examination. However, on March 22, the investigator for especially important cases again refused to open a criminal case. The defence appealed against this decision, the HRC "Memorial" has explained.

Let us remind you that Oyub Titiev, the head of the office of the HRC "Memorial" in Grozny, is accused of possessing marijuana. Titiev asserts that the drug was planted on him by a law enforcer, and asked investigators to bring him to justice.
