Recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Netherlands triggers diplomatic conflict

Eric Westestrate, the Dutch charge d'affairs, was summoned to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) after the Dutch MPs had voted for the resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

Turkey has condemned the Netherlands' decision to recognize the Armenian Genocide, recalling the murder of thousands of Muslims in Bosnia in 1995.

"We urge the Dutch politicians to reconsider their biased attitude towards Turkey and not to politicize history," the "Daily Sabah" quotes Hami Aksoy, the spokesman of the Turkish MFA, as saying.
