Police demand from Darya Polyudova to explain her participation in a picket

On November 23, Darya Polyudova was visited by policemen who forced her to write explanatory letters concerning her participation in a picket held on October 31 in Krasnodar and her post in a social network about law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 20, Darya Polyudova was released from the Novorossiysk penal colony, where she served her sentence in the case on public calls for separatism and extremism. The activist has declared she will continue her political struggle.

Darya Polyudova was among the organizers of the march that had been scheduled for August 2014, but never took place; it was directed against Russia's policy towards Ukraine. The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" put Darya on the political prisoners’ list; and the human rights organization Amnesty International recognized her to be a "prisoner of conscience".

Darya Polyudova was questioned by a criminal investigator concerning pickets held in Krasnodar on October 31. According to the activist, the policeman asked her to explain her relationship with Victor Chirikov, who together with Darya Polyudova took part in pickets held in Krasnodar on October 31.

Those solo pickets were held by Darya Polyudova and Viktor Chirikov in support of the "Strategy-31", a campaign for freedom of assembly, which earlier had been an all-Russian civil movement in defence of freedom of assembly.

On November 23, in addition to the criminal investigator, Darya Polyudova was also visited by a district police inspector. "He forced me to write an explanation concerning the fact that I called a policeman the 'bacon' in my post. There was an alleged 'insult of a public official," reported Darya Polyudova.
