Saakashvili's teammate reports Chataev's death in Tbilisi special operation

One of those killed in the special operation in Tbilisi is Akhmed Chataev, a suspect of organizing a terror act at Istanbul Airport in June 2016, said David Makishvili, an ally of the former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the special operation in Gabriel Salos Street in the Isan District in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, began in the evening on November 21 and was over in the following evening. In the course thereof, a special troop's fighter perished; and three suspected terrorists were killed, and another one detained, the Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has reported. According to the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), four special troop's fighters were also wounded.

"According to my information, in the operation, Akhmed Chataev and his securities were liquidated," Colonel David Makishvili, who is an instructor of the National Guard of Ukraine, wrote on November 22 on his Facebook page.

Since 2003, Akhmed Chataev, an ethnic Chechen, also known as "One-Armed", had been searched for by Russian law enforcement bodies. In 2014, Umar Idigov, a resident of the Pankisi Gorge, told the "Caucasian Knot" that Chataev was in Turkey. Later, Chataev was suspected of organizing the terror act at Istanbul Airport in June 2016.
