In Austria, a native of Chechnya opens fire from a wedding party cortege

Austrian policemen seized a pistol from a native of Chechnya who opened fire at his own wedding party.

The incident occurred in the middle of the motorway on the way from Vienna towards the town of Korneuburg. While cars from the wedding party cortege were moving, a 22-year-old groom lowered a car window and shot several times in the air from a traumatic pistol. The police caught up and stopped the wedding party cortege, the newspaper "Heute" reports.

According to the edition, the police seized the pistol from the perpetrator of the incident and his licence to carry weapons was suspended.

Shooting is a common practice at Caucasian wedding parties. However, according to Magomedkhan Magomedkhanov, an expert at the Institute for History of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Dagestani Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), the above custom is not a historical tradition.
