Mikhail Saakashvili gets a document to confirm his legal stay in Ukraine

On November 7, the Migration Service of Ukraine issued a certificate to confirm legal presence of Mikhail Saakashvili on the territory of Ukraine. This was announced by the former Georgian President himself.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his citizenship on July 26. On September 10, the former President of Georgia managed to return to Ukraine by breaking through the border between Poland and Ukraine. On October 11, Mikhail Saakashvili appealed for asylum, but was refused. On October 26, he personally filed the second request for asylum in Ukraine, but was again refused.

In his homeland, the former Georgian President has been accused of several crimes, including embezzlement of state funds and abuse of office.

"Today, I have finally got a document from the Migration Service to confirm that I stay in Ukraine legally. Of course, I will not be satisfied with that. I go to the court to get the right to restore my citizenship," Mikhail Saakashvili wrote on his Facebook page on November 7.

The certificate was given to Mikhail Saakashvili when he repeatedly applied for the status of a person enjoying additional protection of the state, reported Pavel Bogomazov, an advocate of the politician.

According to the advocate, the document is a guarantee that Mikhail Saakashvili cannot be expelled from Ukraine, while the court are considering the legality of the Migration Service's decision to refuse to grant him such status, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
