Resident of Mozdok found in IVS after kidnapping

Alim Chervaev, a resident of Mozdok, who was kidnapped by armed people from the city marketplace on October 26, is kept at the temporary isolation facility (known as IVS) of the Mozdok District, his relatives have reported. Power agents assert that they had found firearms and drugs on him, but his friends and relatives are sure that he is innocent.

The 28-year-old Alim Chervaev was kidnapped around 1:00 p.m. on October 26, when some 16 armed men in the uniform of special fighters broke into the trading room in the Mozdok marketplace, where Chervaev worked with his mother, the relatives of the young man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"They were all in masks; no one introduced themselves; they didn't explain what was happening. Alim went out to perform his namaz (prayer); they took him right from the prayer away to some unknown place," a close relative of the young man told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He added that relatives searched for Alim for a long time. "Later, they told us in the on duty division that he had been handed over to the investigator, because firearms and drugs were found on him. This is certainly a lie – he was a home guy; he never went anywhere, just to his work and home; he has three children. On Fridays, he visited the mosque; and he has a small beard," said the relative and concluded: "This is not the first time that a man of our religion is detained with drugs and firearms planted on him. People are being intimidated."
