Reports on bomb threats in Grozny buildings proved to be false

On September 25, evacuation of people from buildings of the Chechen capital after bomb threat calls was carried out in a calm environment, the police report. Combat engineers checked all the buildings from which people were evacuated. However, they did not find any explosive devices.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the afternoon on September 25, in the centre of the Chechen capital, people were evacuated from several buildings because of anonymous bomb threat calls.

"There were anonymous bomb threat calls concerning the Mayoralty building, the main building of the Chechen State University (ChSU), a business centre in the Grozny-City high-rise building complex, and the shopping and entertainment centre 'Grand Park'. Evacuation of citizens was carried out immediately after receiving the bomb threat reports, and the buildings were checked by combat engineers. The bomb threat reports were not confirmed," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told today by a staff member from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to some local residents, from the very beginning, they did not trust the information about the explosive devices allegedly planted in buildings in the centre of Grozny.

"Given the fact that in recent days we got bomb threats calls about buildings in Rostov, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Nalchik, Vladikavkaz, Makhachkala, and so on, it was logical to expect that the bomb threat wave will affect us also. So, it happened," said Akhyad, a former Chechen law enforcer.
