On September 11-17, no casualties were reported from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, during the week from September 11 to September 17, 2017, no information was available about any casualties or victims. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Kidnappings

On September 15, on the Facebook, a statement appeared signed by seven activists-members of the Independent International Human Rights Group on the kidnapping in Chechnya by law enforcers of a son, two daughters, an elder brother and a daughter-in-law of Abbas Kuzhulov, convicted on charges of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF). According to the authors of the statement, all the five kidnapped persons are relatives of Sobur-Ali Kuzhulov, born in 1971, wanted for participating in battles on the side of militants.

Earlier, it was reported that Kuzhulov was in Turkey, where he arrived in 2015 for treatment and applied for asylum. According to the authors of the statement, in late August this year, Kuzhulov’s son, Iles Sultanov, 28 (born in 1989), was kidnapped in Grozny. Also, from their house in Grozny, the elder brother and the daughter-in-law of Abbas Kuzhulov, the spouses Ilman Kuzhulov, born in 1951, and Aishat Kuzhulova, were taken away to an unknown place. And in early September, in the Vedeno District, unidentified persons kidnapped two daughters of Abbas Kuzhulov, Taus Sultanova, born in 1988, and Markha Sultanova, born in 1999, who were raising their minor children.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report. Among the victims have been Abubakar Mestoev and Umar Chichaev, mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters from Northern Caucasus, reports Shamil Khadulaev, the chair of the Public Oversight Commission (POC) of Dagestan.

  • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
