Georgia improves its business attractiveness among European countries

Georgia is ranked 20th out of 46 countries in the rating "Best European Countries for Business-2017", stepping up four positions against last year. Armenia went three places down and takes the 39th place, while Azerbaijan is one but last in the rating, having lost one position.

The rating was prepared by the European Chamber, an independent non-governmental organization. In the new ranking, Georgia has outstripped a number of EU countries, including Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, as well as its neighbours – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Turkey.

The top three leaders are Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

The rating is based on the corruption perception index compiled by the Transparency International and indicators of the ease of doing business awarded by the World Bank.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that leading associations of Georgian businessmen called on the government not to abolish the constitutional law "On Economic Freedom", which "makes Georgia attractive for foreign investments and promotes the development of entrepreneurship."
