Investigators forbid reporters to talk about interrogation in Mukhtarly's case

The journalist Sevinj Vagifgyzy, questioned within the criminal case opened against her colleague Afghan Mukhtarly, was forced to sign a non-disclosure obligation, her advocate reports. Members of the oppositional "Musavat" Party have also been summoned for questioning. The party leader has treated the Mukhtarly's case as politically motivated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 31, a Baku court arrested Afghan Mukhtarly for three months. He was accused of trespassing the border, smuggling and resisting a border guard.

On June 13, the Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) denied the version of Mukhtarly's detention in Tbilisi, stating that he was detained on the border of the two countries.

On June 14, Sevinj Vagifgyzy, a freelance journalist, was interrogated at the Investigating Department of Grave Crimes of the Azerbaijani GPO within Mukhtarly's, her advocate Shakhly Gumbatova reports.

According to the advocate, non-disclosure subscriptions were taken from her and Vagifgyzy.

Ms Gumbatova has added that investigators had stated that, if necessary, Vagifgyzy could be again summoned for interrogation.

On May 30, Vagifgyzy was detained near the building of the Chief Department of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, when she wanted to find out Mukhtarly's fate.

Isa Gambar and Arif Gadjily, the former and the current chairmen of the "Musavat" Party, respectively, as well as Gyulyaga Aslanly, the head of the "Musavat" office, were also summoned for questioning to the Azerbaijani GPO within Afghan Mukhtarly's case.
