In Tbilisi, activists hold actions in support of gays and holiness of family
The activists have marked the International Day Against Homophobia by gathering in front of the State Chancellery building in Tbilisi. They spoke in protection of the rights of people with non-conventional sexual orientation. Meanwhile, in the Georgian capital, counter-actions dedicated to the Day of Solidarity and Holiness of Family were launched.
Today, Georgian activists have been brought to the building of the State Chancellery, where they have held a rally in defence of the rights for members of LGBT communities.
"We did not mark this day for three years in a row. However, today, minibuses specially allocated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) brought us here together," reported a participant of the action as quoted by the "Georgia Online".
Meanwhile, in five districts of Tbilisi, participants of the counter-actions "to protect the holiness of the family" came out in the streets to organize a mass march to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. In their hands, they were holding icons and flags.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that on April 18, Georgian LGBT activists held a rally in support of gays in Northern Caucasus. They demanded from the Russian authorities to stop the persecution of homosexuals in Northern Caucasus and requested the Georgian authorities to grant asylum to Russian gays in case of their appeals.
