In Chechnya, kidnapped resident of Urus-Martan released

Apti Edaev, a resident of the Chechen city of Urus-Martan, kidnapped by people in uniform, has been released. This was reported by relatives of the kidnapped man.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 10, Apti Edaev, a resident of the city of Urus-Martan, was taken away from a mourning ceremony by unknown persons. Family members of Apti Edaev noted that he had no problems with the law. Officials from the law enforcement bodies did not then confirm the fact of kidnapping.

"Apti Edaev was released three days after his kidnapping. We are not aware agents of what body took him away and where he was being kept for several days. And it is also unclear what provoked his kidnapping, since no charges were filed against him," said a family member of the man.

Earlier, relatives and friends of the man have reported about the refusal of staff members of the local police station to accept their complaint about the kidnapping.

According to advocate Sapiyat Magomedova, there are no reasons why the police cannot accept the complaint. The advocate has also added that Apti Edaev might be kidnapped not by law enforcers.

In his turn, Magomed Mutsolgov, the leader of the human rights organization "Mashr", has voiced a recommendation to immediately call "02" in such cases just after an incident, since the police register all calls.
