"Novaya Gazeta" reports on trial against Ramazan Djalaldinov after his cooperation with Chechen authorities

In August, Ramazan Djalaldinov, a resident of the Chechen village of Kenkhi, who criticized the authorities, was found guilty of defamation, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports. According to the newspaper, the sentence was pronounced about two months after the agreement concluded by Ramazan Djalaldinov with the authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 30, Ramazan Djalaldinov apologized to Ramzan Kadyrov on the air of the Chechen State TV and Radio Company (ChSTRC) "Grozny". Experts questioned the sincerity of the apology.

According to the verdict, quoted by the "Novaya Gazeta", Ramazan Djalaldinov had "criminal design," and thus he disseminated "the false information."

The agency "The Chechen Republic Today" reports that Ramazan Djalaldinov was sentenced to 160 hours of compulsory labour.

The system "Justice" also contains the sentence to Saidmagomed Nasibov, a fellow villager of Ramazan Djalaldinov, who was sentenced to three years of probation on the charge of drug possession, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.

According to the newspaper, Ramazan Djalaldinov was to apologize to Ramzan Kadyrov and the Chechen authorities promised immunity for him and his family members and refusal of persecution of his supporters. Besides, the authorities also promised to pay the compensation due to the villagers.

Let us remind you that on November 7, relatives and fellow villagers of Ramazan Djalaldinov reported about his disappearance. The Chechen Prosecutor's Office said the Ombudsman announced the investigation into the information on disappearance.
