Volgograd human rights defender Igor Nagavkin stops his hunger strike
Igor Nagavkin, the leader of the regional branch of the movement "For Human Rights", has begun eating at SIZO (pre-trial prison) after he had started to receive medical treatment. This was reported by his advocate, who visited the human rights defender.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 2, Igor Nagavkin was arrested for two months by the court's decision on suspicion of theft. Igor Nagavkin started a forced hunger strike at the SIZO in connection with the lack of qualified medical aid, which he needed, reported the advocate of the human rights defender.
Yuri Bengardt, the advocate of Igor Nagavkin, visited his client at the SIZO on October 24.
"On October 21, Igor Nagavkin stopped his hunger strike. He was visited by a surgeon who was summoned from vacation and who examined him," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told today by Yuri Bengardt.
The advocate has noted that today Igor Nagavkin is to be visited by the commission to decide on his further medical treatment.
"He started to receive medical treatment," noted the advocate.
