Azerbaijani opposition states detention of observer at referendum

An activist Jamil Gadjiev was detained in Baku at the referendum on amendments to the Constitution, where he was present as an observer, Aikhan Gadjibeili, a member of the "Musavat" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today Azerbaijan held a referendum on amendments to the Constitution.

Gadjiev was detained at the 22nd polling station of the 21st Nasimi Constituency, said Mr Gadjibeili.

"Jamil protested against admission to the polls of some 4-5 persons, who were seen voting at another polling station. When Jamil demanded to stop these people from voting, he was attacked by several people present at the station. He tried to call the 102 service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), but he was detained by policemen," said Gadjibeili, who witnessed the Gadjiev's detention.

The detention of Gadjiev was also confirmed by the oppositional online resource "Meydan.TV".
