During the week of September 5-11, 2016, nine persons fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. Of them, eight persons were killed, one more man was wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes seven suspected members of the armed underground in Dagestan. Besides, it was also reported about the death of one civilian in Dagestan.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On September 5, one more shootout took place in the forest near the village of Samur of the Magaramkent District in Dagestan, where the counterterrorist (CTO) legal regime was introduced on September 4 and where a special operation was held. In the first half of the day, in the Samur forest, law enforcers killed an armed man, who opened fire on them and was killed in a shootout. Besides, the law enforcement bodies have succeeded in proving that the killed suspects were involved in the death of a Samur resident, who "a month ago" went into the forest with a saw to collect firewood, and later was killed by unidentified attackers. The saw of the man was found in a camp of the killed militants. On September 9, in the Samur forest, unidentified men opened fire on fighters of the federal forces. During the armed clash, a fighter of the Dagestani OMON (riot police) was wounded.

At 6:00 a.m. Moscow time of September 7, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Dagestani town of Izberbash. Law enforcers cordoned off the house, which, according to them, might be hiding members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) involved in an attack on policemen committed in this August. People from nearby houses were evacuated. As a result of the armed clash, three militants were killed. In the course of the special operation in Izberbash, Magomed Khalimbekov, Rinat Osmanov, and Bagaudin Magomedov were killed. The CTO legal regime introduced in the morning was lifted at 7:00 p.m.

At 6:00 a.m. of September 7, in Rakhmatullaev Street, law enforcers cordoned off the house, where, according to the preliminary information, members of the armed underground were hiding. At 7:00 a.m. Moscow time, the CTO legal regime was introduced in the Kirov District of Makhachkala. The cordoned off militants refused to lay down their arms and opened fire on the law enforcers, who then began storming the house. Three militants were killed by the following armed clash. As a result of the shootout in Makhachkala, Rashid Umakhanov, Amalatbek Bogatyrov, and Nazir Kasumov were killed. The CTO legal regime introduced in the morning was lifted at 7:00 p.m.

Detentions

On September 9, in the Dagestani town of Izberbash, staff members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained a member of the armed underground. The detainee is suspected of killing a policeman and a local resident, committed in July 2016. The 20-year-old man had a pistol, two magazines and several dozen rounds of ammunition for the pistol, and a handheld transceiver in his pockets.
