In Sochi, MoF and MIA challenge compensation to builder for his beating by policeman

In Sochi, the court has pronounced the decision in a civil lawsuit for compensation in the amount of 650,000 roubles for damage to health inflicted by a policeman to Pavel Solovyov, a builder from Novosibirsk. The dismissed policeman who served his sentence challenged the court's decision. The complaints against the court's decision on compensation were also filed by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in April 2013, Pavel Solovyov, who worked in Sochi on the construction of Olympic facilities, was brought to hospital in serious condition. Later, he claimed that he was beaten by a policeman and that he lost his spleen after being beaten.

"During the whole period of serving his sentence, the policeman who deprived me of a vital organ paid me only 1000 roubles. The compensation in the amount of 650,000 roubles, earlier pronounced by the court was cancelled by the Supreme Court at the policeman's appeal," Pavel Solovyov said.

An advocate of the victim has filed a lawsuit for compensation for damage against the Ministry of Finance to the Adler District Court.

On July 18, Judge Georgy Gorov pronounced the decision to pay the victim the compensation from the state budget for damage to health in the amount of 650,000 roubles.

According to Alexander Yenin, the advocate of Pavel Solovyov, his client "spent a lot of money on medicines, since he became disabled because of the policeman's actions."
