Armenian law enforcement authorities report on arrests of opposition supporters

A group of people who provided assistance to members of the "Constituent Parliament" in seizing the building of the police regimen in Yerevan was arrested. This was reported by the National Security Service of Armenia. Besides, six opposition supporters involved in the riots in Yerevan are also detained, reports the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17, an armed group of supporters of the "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the patrol-and-security service of the police regiment in Yerevan. On the day of the seizure of the building, one police officer was killed, six other persons were injured. The opposition members demand to release political prisoners, including their leader Zhirair Sefilyan. They also demand the resignation of Serzh Sargsyan and the formation of an interim government.

Meanwhile, the secret services have identified potential supporters of the rebels and placed them under surveillance.

At present, investigators have information about 62 people fell victim to the riots in Khorenatsi Street, including 37 policemen, reports an official from the Investigating Committee of Armenia.
