Fire victims from Tsuntin District stop their protest action

In Makhachkala, fire victims from the Tsuntin District have decided to stop their protest action after the meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers of Dagestan, who promised to pay compensation. According to the fire victims, in the case if the promises are not fulfilled, they will resume their protests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, residents of the villages of Genukh and Tsokhok, affected by fires, have gathered in front of the building of the Dagestani government and demanded from the authorities to compensation. The protesters sought a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Djafarov.

In the village Genukh, the fire occurred on April 19, 2014. As a result, 24 houses and 31 farms were destroyed. In the village of Tsokhok, six private houses were burned down at night of August 2, 2015. According to the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), 40 people lost their housing.

According to the protesters, they were met by Deputy Prime Ministers Ramazan Djafarov and Shamil Isaev. They have informed the protestors that the MfE's Department for Dagestan was instructed to address the issue of compensation and that the problem should be resolved within two or three weeks.

The fire victims state that in case if the officials fail to fulfil the promises, "a more large-scale rally will be held."

According to Djamaludin Bagov, Dagestani Deputy Minister for Emergencies, the government made the decision to allocate 4,300,000 roubles for compensation of the lost property. And each family affected by fire is to be granted 100,000 roubles as compensation.
