On June 6-12, 2016, no one fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of June 6-12, 2016, no one fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Attacks on law enforcers

On June 5, in the village of Alkhasty of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, the territory of a military unit of the Internal Troops of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) was shelled from a grenade launcher. No one was injured as a result of the explosion of a grenade. Soldiers and officers opened fire in return; however, the attackers managed to escape.

Explosions and terror acts

On June 9, an explosive device detonated under the car of Kharon Tsechoev, Deputy Chairman of the Sunzha District Council. The car was parked at the gates of the house, where Kharon Tsechoev lived, in the town of Sunzha. Minor damage was inflicted to the car, and no one was injured. Investigators consider commercial activity of Kharon Tsechoev as a motive for the explosion, since recently, he was engaged in disputes concerning several land plots.

Detentions

On June 9, law enforcers detained Zelimkhan Amriev, a resident of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia. He is suspected of active involvement in the secret unit of the "Islamic State" (IS) (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). In the course of the search of the suspect, the law enforcers found an improvised grenade.

On June 10, six suspected members of an illegal armed formation (IAF) were detained during a special operation in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia. According to the law enforcers, the detainees are involved in the "Islamic state" (banned in the Russian Federation). After the searches carried out in their houses and at their working places, the law enforcers seized an improvised explosive device (IED), grenades, a Kalashnikov submachine gun, and a large quantity of ammunition.

Kidnappings

Since June 3, it is not possible to reveal the whereabouts of Magomed Suleimanov, a 23-year-old resident of Dagestan, who works at a roadside cafe at a turning to the Makhachkala village of Uchkhoz. Magomed Suleimanov visited a Salafi mosque in Kotrov Street. He wears a beard, and in 2015, he was preventively registered at the police station. According to eyewitnesses, men in civilian clothes said something to Magomed, after that he entered their car, and they drove away in the direction of Makhachkala. Relatives of Magomed Suleimanov say that they did not succeed in their attempt to locate him. They contacted the OVD (Interior Division) for the Kirov District of Makhachkala, the Centre for Combating Extremism of the Department for Dagestan of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), and the regional department of the FSB. The relatives of Magomed Suleimanov fear that he could be kidnapped by law enforcers.

On June 9, near the petrol station "Evrozapravka", Omar Musaev, a resident of Khasavyurt, born in 1984, was kidnapped. This was reported by his father Magomedrasul. A Gazel car drove to Omar, and several people in masks jumped out of it. Omar tried to run away from them; however, it was hit by a passenger car. After that, at least six people forced him into their car.
