Resident of Chechnya accused of financing terrorism

The Chechen Prosecutor's Office has sent to the court a criminal case against a local resident, accused of illegal possession of ammunition, as well as of rendering financial help to his fellow countryman, who has been convicted for preparing to take part in the warfare in Syria for the militants.

The criminal case against Suleiman Aidamirov will be considered by the North-Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don, the Prosecutor's Office has reported.

Suleiman Aidamirov was detained by law enforcement bodies in December 2015. According to investigators, in 2008, he built a secret hideout in the territory of Grozny, where he kept ammunition and explosive devices.

Also, Aidamirov is accused of giving money to his acquaintance Zelimkhan Mimbulatov, who had intended to travel to Syria to join the militants and take part in hostilities. In 2015, Mimbulatov was sentenced to two years in prison for preparing to participate in an illegal armed formation (IAF).
