"EcoWatch": construction works near Karasun Lakes resumed

Despite the protests of local residents and the position of the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, construction works on the bank of one of the Karasun Lakes are resumed. This is reported by the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus" (EcoWatch).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Prosecutor's Office and the Department of the Federal Agency for State Property Management ("Rosimuschestvo") have challenged in court the legality of the order issued by the Krasnodar administration on the urban development of banks of the Karasun Lakes, where a residential complex is being constructed. On April 23, 150 people came to the rally against the construction of the residential complex. The protestors alleged the collusion between the developer and the city administration.

Governor Veniamin Kondratiev and Yuri Gritsenko and Sergey Usenko, two Vice-Governors, spoke against the continuation of the construction, the "EcoWatch" website reports.

In April 2015, construction works were launched to erect a 16-storey residential complex on the bank of one of the Karasun Lakes. After a series of the protests, the Mayor's Office withdrew from the developer a building permit.

On May 30, the activists of the "EcoWatch" discovered drilling machine at the site of the construction. The construction works underway proves that the company is preparing the territory for the construction of all the other houses of the residential complex, the "EcoWatch" website reports.
